Since its inception, VBUSS has taken various pioneer initiatives towards the cause of higher education including organizing national workshops on fulfilling NEP mandate in school curriculum and higher education curriculum, envisioning and conducting master training programmes for college and university faculty, training programmes for Principals of higher education institutions. And most importantly, establishing VBUSS regional centres in different parts of the country. The curriculum work done by VBUSS, both in the field of school education and higher education, is presented and submitted as policy document to higher education institutions for further implementation.
In addition to these, VBUSS also works in associations with HEIs for further strengthening and boosting the cause of higher education. The intricate, organic academic and institutional infrastructure that VBUSS has established, is boosted by collaborations with established HEIs that reflect and adhere to same cultural and educational value system. VBUSS also publishes an annual online journal by the title: International Journal of Bharatiya Knowledge System (IJBKS) that promotes research in IKS and related fields.
With this background, Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan (VBUSS) has a dedicated vertical to provide quality internship opportunities in the areas of IKS to deserving scholars. This Research Internship (RI) has been conceptualised to engage the best young minds with passion for research work as facilitated by best institutions giving them an opportunity to contribute in a meaningful project. The scholar will be placed at an Institution under an able Supervisor/s.
Research internships offer practical experience of research and foster skills for conducting meaningful, relevant, sound and analytical research. This research internship on IKS based fields will take the interns through all the important steps involved in doing research starting from incubation of the idea to developing it for bringing about meaningful outcome, and state policy suggestions.
The following are the important objectives of this research internship:
- To familiarize the interns with steps of how to conduct successful research in the field of IKS.
- To familiarize interns with research methods that are most appropriate in conducting such a research
- To develop analytical temper for conducting research in the areas of IKS that can contribute to the ever expanding oeuvre of meaningful research in this area.
- To provide opportunity for practical experience and field work broad areas of education and social sciences from the IKS perspective.
- It will be a 2 months Internship.
- The research themes shall be under the wider domain of social sciences, humanities, (Anthropology, Management included), particularly focusing on Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS).
- The candidates are required to mention, while filling up the form, at least 3 themes (as given below) that they would be like to work on during the duration of the Internship.
- IKS Division, Ministry of Education, GoI and Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) are support institutions for this internship.
- Students will be given Stipend during the internship as per IKS Division mandate.
- Final certificate will be issued by VBUSS and above two collaborating institutions upon successfully completing the requirements of the internship.
- A dedicated Orientation Program focusing on Research Methodology at the start and a Valedictory Seminar shall be organised for the Interns to enhance their skills.

In the end, the interns should be able to develop well founded long papers (one per intern) reflecting their learnings from discussions, study, field exercises, mentoring and more for successful completion of this RI programme. Along with this the interns are also expected to submit a final report on their experience and work conducted at the host institutions. The long term vision of this internship is to enable a spirit of curiosity, enquiry and understanding among the interns who would then be motivated and ready to conduct meaningful, long term and authentic research in different areas of IKS.
After the successful achievement of these tasks, the completion certificates will be issued to the interns.

- Applicants must also clearly state their area of interest/research.
- A candidate should submit only one application.
- The applicants who do not fulfil eligibility criteria, will not be considered for the RI programme.
- The selected candidates must submit the copy of their original PG marksheet/degree before the commencement of the programme.
- The candidate must arrange for his/her accommodation during the duration of the Internship.
- While doing this VBUSS internship in the partner institutions, the candidate should have a minimum of 80% attendance for successful completion of the RI programme.
- It may be noted that the interns, during the whole course of this internship, must adhere to model code of conduct and ethics that involve:
- regular attendance
- cooperation with the host institution
- following the rules and regulations of host institutions
- timely completion of tasks given during the course of the Internship.
- active involvement in all the tasks and lectures to be attended
- conducting himself/herself in such a manner that it does not bring any disrepute to the institution you are attached with
- The candidate should submit a synopsis of the proposed long paper that he/she is going to complete during the RI programme to the host institution and to VBUSS coordinators after one week of joining the host institution as an intern.
- The final presentation, of the work done, will be conducted in the last week of the RI programme.
- If the long paper is not found to be of high quality then the intern will have to reappear in the next RI programme (as will be announced) for successful completion.
